Regional Centres

In order to decentralize its services and in line with the devolution of government services, KEMI established Kisumu regional center in 2011. Plans are underway to establish other regional Centres in future.

Regional Centres

The region is headed by a National Management Trainer, Job Group ‘N’ assisted by clerk who is hired on temporary basis. The office is accommodated at Kisumu Polytechnic.

The team was informed that the office only pays for utilities like electricity and water at a rate of Kenya Shillings five hundred (Kshs.500) per month. The team was also informed that there was one year moratorium before the institute would begin paying rent at a rate to be determined by the management of the two institutions. The region has been able to train one hundred and twenty nine (129) trainees for the period between December 2011 to December 2012.

The office covers six counties namely: Nyamira, Kisii, Homabay, Migori, Kisumu and Siaya.

The functions of the centre include:-

  • Planning, organizing and coordinating training activities in the region;
  • Overseeing the development of training curriculum manuals and schedules in the region;
  • Assigning duties to trainers in the region;
  • Developing draft proposals for new training program for funding;
  • Coordinating certification for participants of training programmes in the region; and
