A Roaring Success: Developing the Capacity of Education Managers

In-service training is an essential element in improving the managerial skills of school heads can be an important tool for improving the quality of education. It can enable school heads provide improved leadership and management in the school and thus make a positive difference in the lives of our children. KEMI developed a Diploma in Education Management which is aimed at empowering education managers with knowledge and skills in current educational management skills in the following areas:-

  1. Education Law, Policy and Reforms
  2. Effective Resource Management
  3. Transforming Education Management
  4. Child Friendly Schools
  5. Curriculum Management
  6. ICT Integration in Education
  7. Science, Technology & Innovation
  8. Guidance and counseling
The KEMI diploma modules are designed to allow the participants to study in a flexible manner through distance and work-based learning. The study is strengthened by tutor support and supplementary resources from time to time.Achievements to date include:
  1. 87.4% of heads of primary and secondary schools have been trained in the KEMI Diploma in Education Management
  2. 50% of all primary and secondary deputy school heads have completed the KEMI Diploma in Education Management.
  3. 27.7% of deputy heads of primary and secondary schools are halfway through the KEMI Diploma in Education Management.
  4. 182 Education Officers and Quality Assurance Officers have enrolled for the KEMI Diploma in Education Management.
  5. 169 Heads of Youth Polytechnics have enrolled for the KEMI Diploma in Education Management.
  6. 663 Education Managers from the private sector have enrolled for the KEMI Diploma in Education Management.
